Welcome to ALOE (A Little Of Everything) Rattery & Mousery!
Based in Sacramento, California, we are a small, family-run breeding operation dedicated to our animals. While we have recently expanded into breeding mice, our long-standing passion lies in developing high-quality rat companions.
For nearly a decade, our mission has remained the same: health and temperament come first. We strive to raise social, well-adjusted pets that fit perfectly into your own family. Because we specialize in “a little of everything," we are proud to offer our rats in a stunning variety of coats and types including Dwarf, Rex, Silvermane, Harley, Hairless, Marten, Siamese, Marble, and many other varieties! Our Goal
I began breeding as just a personal hobby, born out of my passion for learning more about animal genetics. Later, when I discovered there was almost no rat breeders in the Sacramento area, I decided to begin offering my rats locally to give people a place to obtain quality pet rats they otherwise did not have access to. Seeing the amount of “feeder breeders” and pet stores with sick, aggressive rats, I developed my goal to produce rats that are friendly by nature, do not bite, and have the ability to live long and healthy lives. I breed to prevent health issues like tumors, weak immune systems, malocclusion, megacolon, or any other health issues that may plague rats from low-standard breeders.
About Us
My name is Megan, and I run ALOE Rattery with the help of my loving and VERY patient husband. 10 years ago, we actually met because of our mutual interest via a Craigslist ad that he had posted selling rats of his own. (As strange of a love story as that is.) With both of us having been avid animal lovers our entire lives, we clicked right away. Together, we now own and care for animals of all kinds, including our rats, mice, chickens, dogs, fish, and reptiles. The list goes on, but we have never lost our passion for the pets that led us to each-other.
Our Policies
No Contracts
We are a no nonsense, no strings attached rattery. No contracts required. We do sell our rats with the sole intention of being pets though, not to be bred. We ask if you plan to breed our rats to please just let us know before you do, or when inquiring.
No Visiting
We are a PRIVATE rattery; meaning we do not allow the public to enter our home. This is for the safety of our rats & our family and is not negotiable.
No Refunds
All sales are final. Though we will always accept returns of rats if you cannot keep your rat(s) for any reason. We do NOT take in rescue or rats from other sources/breeders.
Reservations, Fees & Pickup
A 50% nonrefundable deposit will be required to reserve or hold rats that cannot be picked up immediately (limit of one week).
Once the Purchaser has placed their deposit, their rat(s) must be picked up within the one week window, or a $10 boarding fee per rat, per week, will be charged.
Adoption Fees must be paid in full at pickup or prior to pickup in cash (exact change only), Venmo, CashApp or Zelle. Purchasers will be made aware of the full price of the rats prior to finalizing the sale and must provide a carrier or box to transport their animals on pickup.
Delivery to surrounding areas can be arranged as needed, but will require an extra fee before we start our trip to cover gas depending on distance. We do not ship. We are happy to work with animal transport companies, but all shipping/delivery costs related, to or from us, as well as any replacement rat, are the responsibility of the buyer
Must be 18 years or older
Under no circumstances will ALOE Rattery sell rats directly to a minor. We are supportive of children having rats as pets. However, we understand that children cannot be solely responsible for pet guardianship.
If you adopt from us for your child(ren) please know that YOU are primarily responsible for that pets safety and health. If anything happens to your child or your rat because of a lack of guardian supervision, we are not responsible.
Exchanges
The Buyer has up to 14 days after the rat(s) have been picked up to return them for a replacement if they are not happy with their chosen rat for any reason. After the 14 day period, ALOE Rattery may agree to take the rat(s) back, but will no longer offer exchanges.
Liability Agreement
Purchaser understand that while ALOE Rattery does not adopt out animals known to have health issues at the time of placement, no guarantee is expressed or implied about their health or temperament. Purchaser agrees to hold ALOE Rattery harmless for any potential diseases, damages or injuries said animals could transmit or cause. ALOE, is hereby absolved from any liability for future damages or injuries caused by any animals purchased, and any veterinary bills incurred on behalf of said animals. ALOE Rattery is entitled to alter or modify this agreement at any time. ALOE Rattery has the right to refuse a sale at their discretion and is not obliged to give a reason for a refusal.
